Online Gambling Revenue Spikes In New Jersey And Pennsylvania

TRENTON, N.J. – New Jersey and Pennsylvania iGaming players were active in September, as both markets saw an increase in action in September.
New Jersey in particular saw a major bump with online poker revenue. But Pennsylvania’s online poker revenue dipped slightly.
The total legal online gambling markets across both states were aided by a jump in online slots and online table games.
New Jersey Online Gambling
The New Jersey gambling market saw a 40% increase in overall online gambling month-over-month in September.
NJ casinos reported $122.6 million in revenue according to the New Jersey Division of Gaming. This is up from the $110.8 million reported in August.
Online poker saw its own spike of $100,000 month-over-month to $2.5 million in revenue in September. BetMGM and Borgata reported $1,021,206, WSOP reported $804,887, and PokerStars reported 665,808.
Pennsylvania Online Gambling
Those gambling in Pennsylvania pushed the monthly revenue to $97.8 million.
The online slots report showed that the bulk of the revenue came from slot games with $68.5 million in revenue coming in September. This is also a 71.5% increase year-over-year from the $57 million in September 2020.
Online table games saw another big chunk of the revenue with $26.4 million reported.
Online poker had $2.92 million collected in revenue, which was a slight decrease month-over-month compared to the $3.2 million reported in August. September was the second-highest online poker month in September, however.
BetMGM saw the most revenue in Pennsylvania with $30.4M which is up $8.2M month-over-month. BetMGM is partnered with Hollywood Casino at Penn National.
The overall online gambling market in Pennsylvania has been steadily increasing, and September has been a bright spot in 2021.
The market may continue to climb heading into the new year.
