Ohio Sports Betting “90% Agreed Upon” Says Sen Kirk Schuring
COLUMBUS, Ohio - Senator Kirk Schuring recently assured the public that the details of an Ohio sports betting bill are very close to being finalized.
Will Ohio Sports Betting Be Available Soon?
In a recent appearance on 1480 WHBC with Pam Cook, Senator Schuring said that members of the House and Senate had a joint meeting last week, where they discussed Ohio sports betting bill HB 29.
According to Senator Schuring, discussions of the bill are going well, and Ohio gambling in the form of sports betting could launch soon if he has his way.
“It will be soon. I am telling you, I’m a tenacious guy. We are going to get this done. I’m not going to give you a timeline, but I think it will be very soon,” said Schuring.
Awaiting Agreement
The details of HB 29 are supposedly mostly already agreed upon, with only '10%' or less having yet to be agreed upon by committee members.
“We still have some heavy lifting to do. We agreed on about 90% of the issues, and 10%, maybe 5%, we didn’t. We have to get past these obstacles,” said Schuring during the interview.
The conference committee itself contains members from the Senate and from the House. If HB 29 is able to be approved by both the Senate and the House, all that will be left is for Ohio Governor Mike DeWine to sign it into law.
This is great news for Ohio residents who enjoy legal gambling and are looking forward to adding sports betting to their repertoire.
