Michigan Online Sports Betting To Happen Before 2021?
- Michigan may launch online sport betting by November or December of 2020.
- Only days of legal sports betting in Michigan have been available with the pandemic shutdown.
DETROIT - The state Michigan had plans of launching online sports betting in 2021 but with the pandemic many were unsure of when to really expect it to get approved.
The state may have access to mobile sports wagering sooner than they think according to the information releases by Michigan’s state government.
With the recent acceptance of online gaming supplier license forms by the Michigan Gaming Control Board, residents are moving in the right direction to not have to leave their homes to place wagers on sports.
“We’ve taken another step toward the launch of online gaming by beginning the licensing process,” said Richard Kalm, the MGCB executive director. “The MGCB encourages suppliers to file applications soon so we can conduct investigations and issue provisional licenses, which are allowed under state law.”
Michigan had its official legalization of sports betting last year. Live casinos began offering sports betting on the day the NBA stopped and a few days before coronavirus shutdowns began.
Residents and casino owners were disappointed with the outcome of the predicted highly profitable legal sports gambling in the state.
The land-based casinos within the state were only able to make $105,548 in the days of sports betting.
More and more people are longing for a chance to have the option to bet online as sports get closer to restarting for the end of the summer and the fall.
Rep. Brandt Iden, who is important in the legalization of sports betting in Michigan, explained that the rules for mobile betting are currently developing and should be done in the next two weeks.
After the promulgation process that goes through Michigan House and Senate, platforms can get issued their license for online sports gambling.
Iden hopes to have the service available by November or December of 2020.
