Greektown Casino to Host Barstool Sportsbook Inside The Casino
- Barstool sportsbook is set to go live in Greektown Casino in Detroit only weeks after launching a mobile sportsbook in Pennsylvania
- The sportsbook will attract many bettors to the casino because of its well know brand.
- The Barstool brand will set the retail sportsbook as the state waits for online sports betting and recovers from the pandemic shutdowns at the start of legal sports betting in Michigan.
DETRIOT - Barstool is set to launch a retail sportsbook in the Greektown Casino in Detroit while Greektown positions itself as one of the fastest-growing sports betting brands.
This well-known brand deal comes at a time where Michigan bettors are already patiently waiting for the official launch of state-regulated online sports betting and online casino gaming that is estimated to launch in November.

Greektown hopes that with the addition of the Barstool brand, it will have the possibility of having live and recorded events that could bring in new guests to the casino and increase the excitement for online legal gambling.
“When the Barstool guys go to an event, they always attract a big crowd,” said Hugh Flack, Greektown vice president of gaming operations, “In addition, they obviously have a huge online presence. I want to say they reach millions of people through their online channels. And if you look at what their brand is all about, it’s all about sports and sports betting, so it’s a very easy tie-in to the sports betting industry that we’re now in.”
This retail sportsbook announcement comes only weeks after the September 18 announcement of its first sports wagering app in Pennsylvania and teasing that more states would also receive the branded sportsbook “in the coming months”.
In the first weekend, the sportsbook was downloaded over 63,000 times on a busy weekend of sports which is very encouraging to Greektown knowing the interest that comes with the Barstool brand.
“I think it makes our sportsbook really unique and differentiates us from our competition,” said Flack. “The Barstool brand is extremely exciting, and they have a very loyal following that’s growing by the minute. The big thing about their brand is that they want their followers to win and succeed. They’re great advocates for that brand.”
Greektown looks to continue to grow in sports betting due to the fact that many retail sportsbooks in Michigan have struggled because of officially launching in March and having to deal with COVID-19 pandemic closures.
