- Governor Ron DeSantis officially signed the bills to put in motion the gaming compact with the Seminole Tribe.
- While the bill has passed the state House and Senate it still must pass the U.S. Department of the Interior for final approval.
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Tuesday will forever be a monumental day for sports betting in the state of Florida as Governor Ron DeSantis signed and approved the bills that will bring betting to the Sunshine State.
DeSantis signed into action the gaming compact made with the Seminole Tribe that will allow for the opening of legal sportsbooks, online sports betting platforms, and more across Florida.
The bills signed also included a section that will bring roulette and craps to the casino floors of the Seminole Tribe’s gambling venues, a long sought after feature.
The official signed documents were presented Tuesday via press release after 5 p.m.
The gambling agreement is a tremendous move for the state that was initially agreed upon back in April of this year.
The long standing issue between the Seminole Tribe and the state of Florida over gambling rights was finally resolved as the two parties both realized the potential profit that was being lost by the stalemate.
Now, Seminole owned casinos like the Hard Rock in Hollywood, FL and Tampa, FL will be able to open physical sportsbooks where patrons can place bets on a number of sports around the world.
Additionally, the deal allows for third party online platforms like DraftKings and FanDuel to open up in the state, with the profits from these platforms split between the state and the tribe.
