FanDuel Partners With Kentucky Downs Via TVG
- Races at Kentucky Downs will now air on the TVG network, with few exceptions.
- FanDuel also gained the name rights to the newly christened FanDuel Meet at Kentucky Downs.
FRANKLIN, Ky. - FanDuel has become a title partner of the Kentucky Downs Meet, which will now be named the FanDuel Meet at Kentucky Downs.
FanDuel, which is the parent company of TVG, the largest horse race gambling platform in the United States, is now going to become even more visibly involved in horse race betting.
The partnership will bring Kentucky Downs money, of course, but also potentially some notoriety as well - this tide could raise all boats.
The terms of the deal include several notable factors that could change the way online gambling players interact with Kentucky Downs.
- TVG will become the official Advance Deposit Wagering platform of Kentucky Downs.
- Kentucky Downs races will air exclusively on TVG, with the exception of the two Breeders’ Cup Challenges.
- The Tapit Stakes will be renamed to the TVG Stakes.
- One of the two Breeders’ Cup Challenge Series races will be renamed to the FanDuel Turf Sprint, while the other will keep its current name (the Calumet Turf Cup).
- FanDuel gains the rights to advertise on signs and staff uniforms during the Meet, as well as their name on the VIP Chalet.
Kentucky Downs: In Impressive Company
Marc Falcone, co-owner of Kentucky Downs, noted his pride in acquiring the FanDuel sponsorship and praised the quality of other sporting events sponsored by FanDuel.
“FanDuel and TVG recognize our value, and we’re immensely proud that Kentucky Downs has been added to their sponsorship portfolio that includes the Breeders’ Cup, Keeneland, and Del Mar in horse racing, as well as FanDuel’s association with the NFL, NBA, MLB, and PGA Tour. That’s impressive company to be keeping,” Falcone said.
His co-owner, Ron Winchell, praised TVG, FanDuel’s horse racing subsection, and claimed that Kentucky Downs offered one of the best horse racing products around - and thus, the partnership was obvious.
“TVG is America’s undisputed leader in television horse racing, and Kentucky Downs has developed arguably the best betting product in the industry,” Winchell said. “That includes the largest purses and field sizes in the country combined with takeout rates that are very horseplayer friendly.”
FanDuel: A Unique Addition To Sponsorship Portfolio
Andrew Moore, FanDuel’s VP of Racing, praised the uniqueness of Kentucky Downs, and agreed with Winchell that the purses Kentucky Downs offered were indicative of quality horse racing.
“We are thrilled to add this unique meet to our stable of horse racing and sports sponsorships,” Moore said in a statement. “Kentucky Downs is a special track and the exceptional purses demonstrate the commitment of Ron Winchell and Marc Falcone to staging top-class turf racing. The meet will be covered on the TVG Network, and we are looking forward to bringing some of the finest turf horses in the world into millions of homes across America.”
Horse racing betting fans will find that most of these changes are on the sponsorship side, and may not impact the ways in which they bet on races held at Kentucky Downs.
However, they should expect to see a fair bit more FanDuel signage when they watch the races, and those races will only be on the TVG network.
