- The AGA Sports Betting Executive Summit will take place on March 16 later this year.
OXON HILL, Md. – NBA Commissioner Adam Silver will speak at the American Gaming Association’s Sports Betting Executive Summit in March.
The AGA has held a number of different summits and meetings to discuss legal sports betting in the United States. The latest of the summits held by the AGA will take place at the MGM National Harbor in Maryland.
Attendance to the Sports Betting Executive Summit is by invite only. Adam Silver will be one of the key speakers at this summit.
Early Defending Of Sports Betting
Although Silver is the NBA Commissioner, he has defended sports betting for a number of years now. In 2014, Silver wrote an op-ed calling for the legalization and regulation of sports betting. Back then, sports betting was something that not many people were ready to accept.
It was pretty unheard of that the commissioner of the NBA would call for legal sports betting.
Nevertheless, Silver and the NBA have leaned heavily into sports betting for the past two years. Once sports betting became a form of legal gambling the NBA secured a number of sports betting deals. The NBA has partnered with a good number of sportsbook operators and the league has encouraged sports betting integration.
Although Adam Silver is a big speaker for the Summit, he is not the only executive coming to Maryland. FanDuel CEO Matt King has also confirmed that he will be there.
FanDuel has quickly become one of the biggest sportsbooks in the United States. In New Jersey, the FanDuel sports betting app is the most widely used sportsbook in the state. FanDuel has sportsbook operations in many other states with legal sports betting and plans of expansion are expected.
This Executive Summit ran by the AGA is bound to be insightful. League commissioners and CEO’s of sports betting companies will have the chance to talk about a rapidly growing industry.
This summit could lead to a further unified voice of what legal sports gambling could look like in the United States.
