Mystik Dan Favored In Latest Preakness Stakes Betting Odds

BALTIMORE – Gambling on the 2024 Preakness Stakes just got interesting. With the former betting favorite Muth scratched for Saturday’s race, Mystik Dan became the legal online gambling favorite at +190 odds.

The Kentucky Derby winner Mystik Dan looks to win the middle jewel of the Triple Crown on Saturday. There will be plenty of Triple Crown betting action on the colt after his biggest competition was ruled out.

Any Horse At +400 Could Ruin Triple Crown Chances

Although plenty of eyes will be on Mystik Dan, there’s plenty of other horses in the now eight-horse field that can win the Preakness Stakes with longer odds. Mystik Dan hasn’t raced much on short rest, the little experience he had racing on short rest produced poor results.

Instead, Imagination at +400 odds is a reliable horse that never finished worse than second place in six career races. Bob Baffert may have lost Muth for the Preakness 149, but Imagination could make it back-to-back Preakness Stakes won by a Baffert-trained horse.

Baffert’s National Treasure won the 2023 Preakness, edging out Kentucky Derby winner Mage and ending his Triple Crown chances. The trainer of both Triple Crown winners American Pharoah (2015) and Justify (2018) could play the role as the villain again at Pimlico Race Course with Imagination at +400 odds.
