INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. — BetMGM has launched its online sportsbook in Indiana becoming the fourth state to host a BetMGM online sportsbook.
The launch is expected to take sports betting to new heights in the Hoosier state, as the market has been increasing consistently since the legalization of sports betting in 2019.
The news comes after the sportsbook was granted a temporary license last month in connection with Belterra Casino Resort. With the launch, Indiana sports betting now has five online sportsbooks to their name.
The Growing Indiana Sports Betting Market
In January alone, sports betting brought in $161.8 million in both online and retail sportsbook wagers. Online sportsbooks were responsible for $123.4 million of the total, signifying just how popular mobile sports betting is.
As more online sportsbooks in Indiana begin to flood the market, expect to see Indiana increase their betting handle and revenue numbers respectively.
BetMGM Moving Nationwide
BetMGM is currently live through an online platform in New Jersey, West Virginia, Nevada, and now Indiana. They also operate a retail sportsbook in Mississippi.
However, this is just the beginning of MGM’s expansion. BetMGM is looking to expand its online operations to eight total states by the end of the year. The top state in their mind is Michigan, which is moving through the legalization process this year.
